You Can Now Use Apple Pay to Simplify Mobile Donations

2 minute read

When you’re asking for money, you want to make it as easy as possible for your constituents to give. That’s especially true around the holidays, when important requests for donations have to compete with gift buying, travel plans, and the typical chaos of daily life. Even well-meaning donors can abandon a form half completed.

Now you can make donating to your organization as simple as a tap of the finger – by adding Apple Pay to your online donation forms.

Last November, Apple announced they were opening Apple Pay up to non-profits. Blackbaud – makers of Convio Luminate, as well as many others – has made it simple to add an Apple Pay button to your mobile donation pages.

Here’s how it works:

Combine Text Messages with Apple Pay

We’ve long been advocates of combining text messages with web links to direct your supporters to your donation forms. With Apple Pay, you making that process even simpler. Donating to your organization is as simple as a click on a text message and a fingerprint on a web page. We’ve already seen our customers find great success with this method. Apple Pay provides added security, and reduces donation form abandonment.

If your CRM syncs with Blackbaud’s products (Convio Luminate, Sphere, etc), you can start using Apple Pay right now. If you use another CRM, check with your provider to see if this is possible.
