Back in ancient times, before there was text messaging, organizations had trouble making their outreach both broad enough to reach a wide audience and personal enough to be relevant to any single recipient. But the dawn of the age of texting dissolved that contradiction. Text messaging lets you get the right information to the right person at the right time, whether you’re sending millions of texts or just a handful.

At Mobile Commons, we’ve developed a suite of products that allows you to keep your texting personal, no matter how broad your reach. Features like targeted messaging and custom data fields help you create a conversation with your subscribers.

Direct Message makes it even easier to personalize even the farthest-reaching SMS campaign. You can send a text to one user, straight from your Mobile Commons inbox, with the click of a button. It’s even easier than texting a friend from your phone.

Let’s say your inbox looks like this – which it does, if you’re a Mobile Commons customer:

You’re running a campaign to teach people about the facts and history of New York, and you ask your audience to text in their questions. As you can see, questions range from how many Chinese restaurants are in New York to when was New York the capital of the United States.

To respond, just click the envelope icon at the far right of your screen.

That opens a window where you can send a direct message.

Hit send, and voilà – personalization.

Direct messaging doesn’t make sense for every campaign. But we have a number of customers who work with live agents to send individual responses to their users. Questions about New York trivia may not need immediate, personalized responses – but healthcare questions might. Planned Parenthood and the Alexandria Office on Women, for example, send educational health information to subscribers who text in their questions. Or, if you’re running an event, you may want to coordinate many moving parts from one centralized location. The Direct Message functionality streamlines what used to be a cumbersome process.

For those of our customers who require even more intensive direct messaging, we also feature an integration with LivePerson, which lets you host real-time chats over text message.
